Join us for Two Special Faculty Events This August!

Calling all faculty members!  

The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence is hosting two dynamic professional development experiences for faculty this fall. 

  1. Faculty Symposium on Artificial Intelligence in Higher EducationAugust 17 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 in the Boardrooms [Zoom will be available for remote faculty upon registration through our events page].  Don’t forget to save the date on your calendar here and bring a device to participate in our exciting activities. Have you been wondering about how AI will revolutionize much of society, including higher education?  Get some answers and engage in a spirited discussion about the challenges, trends, and tools popping up every day.Some topics will include:

    •  AI’s challenges and uses
    •  Academic Integrity and AI Detectors
    •  Assessments that mitigate Cheating
    •  Integrating AI into course assignments, lesson planning, and course design

  2. Faculty Development Day Fall ‘23 will take place via Zoom on August 22 from 8:30 am to 12 pm. Don’t forget to save the date on your calendar here. This year’s theme is “Teach for the Future,” and we have an exciting lineup of sessions and topics prepared to enhance your teaching strategies and support your professional growth.

    Some of the presentations that will be offered are:

    •  The Future is Now: What Great Online Learning Looks Like 
    •  Building Community: Spiritual Reflection on Belonging in the Classroom 
    •  D2L Badging: Add a Bit of Flair to Your Online Course
    •  Using AI and Immersive Learning Simulations in the Classroom

Faculty play a vital role in influencing student learning and growth. They have the power to level the playing field and inspire students to innovate, think critically, and collaborate effectively. These events provide opportunities for passionate educators to exchange ideas, problem-solving challenges, and enhance their teaching strategies using innovative approaches and cutting-edge technologies. 

All Saint Leo instructors are welcome, including full-time and adjunct, from all locations and teaching modalities.
