We’re excited to announce that Saint Leo is transitioning from D2L to Canvas as our new Learning Management System (LMS). This change will bring enhanced functionality, a modern interface, and tools that support teaching and learning excellence.

Canvas Training Is Here!

This is just the beginning! CTLE will be scheduling additional Canvas training throughout the summer, covering a range of topics to support you as you build and deliver your courses. Check back here regularly.  We will keep this page updated with the latest sessions, dates, and registration links, so you always know what is available.  More sessions coming soon — stay tuned!

We are thrilled to announce that Canvas training officially begins in May! CTLE has designed these sessions to support you at every level — whether you are brand new to Canvas or already have some familiarity with the platform. We are in this together, and we look forward to working with you through every step of the transition.

3-Day Canvas Launch Workshop Series — held on Zoom

Our first training opportunity is an immersive 3-day workshop series that walks through Canvas fundamentals and moves into practical, hands-on work — including building course content, grade setup and settings, assignment and quiz setup, delivering your course, grading, and using rubrics.

Choose Your Offering — the content is identical in both, so register for whichever dates work best for you:

Daily Schedule:

  • Morning Session: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Lunch Break
  • Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

💡 Tip: Register for one offering to attend the full series. If you have a conflict for a specific session in Offering 1, you may also register for both so you can make up the missed session during Offering 2 (same sequence and times).

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with everything you need to join.

Transition to Canvas

Our transition to Canvas is a phased rollout designed for a smooth move from D2L:

  • Spring 2026: Foundation – We begin with technical configurations, including SIS integration and university branding, to build a secure, ready-to-use environment.

  • Summer 2026: Migration & Training – We start moving D2L course structures into Canvas and launch faculty professional development workshops and resources.

  • Fall 2026: Canvas Pilot – A selected group of faculty will lead the first live courses in Canvas to refine the experience before the full launch.

  • Spring 2027: Full Go-Live – Canvas becomes the university’s exclusive LMS. All instruction moves to the new platform as D2L is officially retired.
