Welcome to Saint Leo University!

You have joined the faculty of a great teaching university that values teaching Excellence and Personal Development, two of our six Core Values. As a member of the Saint Leo University faculty, we appreciate your expertise and the impact you will have on our students. It is our goal to help you enjoy successful teaching. The Division of Academic Affairs requires that all faculty learn the pedagogical essentials for teaching at Saint Leo University, as well as the essentials for navigating our learning management system (D2L).

Teaching at Saint Leo Course

To assist you in fulfilling the expectations from Academic Affairs, the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) has designed a self-paced, online faculty development o nboarding course called Teaching at Saint Leo (T@SL). This is a required course for all new instructors.

In the course, you will learn a bit more about our university’s history, our teaching expectations, and how to use our learning management system. The course is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the best teaching practices, and the second part provides the necessary training to use our learning management system which you will practice with in your issued D2L Sandbox. We encourage you to get started as soon as you have received the welcome emailOnce you have completed the course, a certificate of completion and digital badge will be issued to you for your records.

Teaching at Saint Leo Course Policies

This is a REQUIRED course for all new faculty and adjuncts.

Enrollment for all new adjunct and full-time faculty occurs on Monday, the week before a term/semester begins.

Upon enrollment, faculty will receive a welcome email from the course with important information and a direct link to access the course. Please check your Saint Leo email.

Completing the entire course will take our new faculty approximately 8 to 9 hours.

You can request your D2L Sandbox early to preview and explore the learning management system before enrollment in the course. You must have received your Saint Leo credentials to request your Sandbox. This is voluntary.

From the CTLE, we appreciate your commitment to Personal Development and Excellence, and we wish you joyous teaching!
