Student Success & Academic Engagement

Student Success & Academic Engagement is comprised of two areas: Student Success Coaches and the Center for Academic Vision & Excellence (CAVE). The department’s mission is to help students succeed and persist at Saint Leo University. Student Success Coaches (SSC’s) work in partnership with the University community to help create and clarify educational goals by assisting with course selection, registration, interpretation of financial aid information, university policies, academic requirements, and guidance through the academic decision-making process. The CAVE offers comprehensive academic support through peer-tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, embedded tutoring, academic skill support, and on-demand workshops and resources.

Retention Resources

Student retention remains an important part of everyone’s job in higher education. It is important to remember when students feel valued by their faculty and their institution, they are more likely to be retained and progress toward graduation. Faculty provide critical reinforcement necessary to encourage students to persist in their education. The Center for Academic Vision and Excellence has compiled some resources for faculty regarding their important role in retention.
