Important Notice

Important Notice: Please DO NOT alter the name of the key assignment folder (i.e., adding “week 5” to the title); doing so will prevent assessment data from being collected.
Key Assignments are managed and updated within D2L delivery courses, and it is essential that course content is copied from the delivery course to ensure proper data collection. D2L facilitates the scoring and reporting of SLO data through integrated rubrics and quizzes.

Overview

Key Assignments are designated course assignments selected by programs to assess specific Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). These assignments play a critical role in collecting meaningful assessment data and supporting continuous programmatic improvement, as required by SACSCOC and other accrediting bodies.

Identifying Key Assignments

To determine whether your course includes a Key Assignment, refer to the Courses with Key Assignments document.
  • Select the plus sign (+) next to a program to view its associated courses.
  • Courses marked with an asterisk (*) indicate assignments with two rubrics – both rubrics must be scored in D2L.
  • Assignments marked with a caret (^) use the overall rubric or quiz score to generate assessment data. If a rubric is attached, it must be scored in D2L.

Developing New Key Assignments

When designing new assignments that may serve as Key Assignments, we recommend reviewing CTLE’s resource on traditional vs. authentic assessments. This guide offers helpful explanations, examples, and rubric templates to support effective assessment design.
