Summer Offerings and Virtual Sessions

July Courses for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Begin Soon!

Looking for ways to support your summer courses? Need a little inspiration as you’re preparing for fall?

Registration for our July Courses for Teaching and Learning is still open, and based on your feedback, we’ve added additional sections and offerings.

For those who prefer self-paced courses, beginning July 6th, we are offering three microlearning opportunities: Teaching with Microsoft (Office) 365, Creating Module-Level Objectives, and Introduction to Universal Design for Learning. These courses can be started on any Monday in July and will be open through August 2nd.

In addition to the self-paced courses, we are pleased to offer two, two-week facilitated learning opportunities. Facilitated CTLs are more traditional online professional development courses and have due dates and more interactions with your colleagues. We estimate the total time commitment for the facilitated courses to be around three hours, spread out over two weeks.

Our first facilitated course, Introduction to Communities of Inquiry (CoI), begins July 6th. Communities of Inquiry is an instructional design framework that focuses on using Instructor, Social, and Cognitive presences as the foundational elements for developing an online course. The CoI framework can be easily modified and adapted for planning hybrid and f2f lessons as well. This practical framework also supports more inclusive and learner-centered teaching practices.

By request, we have added an additional facilitated course, Collaboration: Theories and Tools, that will begin on July 20th. This course focuses on both the teaching strategies and tools associated with creating more collaborative online and hybrid environments for your learners.

To learn more about the courses and to register, refer to our Courses for Teaching and Learning page.
