1975‑78: Peripatetic adjunct at various institutions in the Tampa Bay Area: University of South Florida, Saint Leo University, Saint Petersburg Junior College, Hillsborough Community College, Pasco-Hernando Community College. 

Courses included: Comparative Mysticism, Interpersonal Relations (psychology). 

1971‑75: Assistant Professor, Hillsborough Community College, Tampa, Florida. Served as faculty ombudsman for one year.

GRANT CONSULTATIONS

Humanities advisor to three grants funded by the Humanities Foundation of West Virginia and two grants funded by the Florida Endowment for the Humanities: 

"Common Threads" and "The West Virginia Experience" brought tradition bearers together with younger artists to discuss the values and problems inherent in the preservation of older cultural forms for today's society. Elkins, West Virginia. 

"Simple Gifts: Pioneer Values" produced a slide/tape program dealing with the relationship between pioneer crafts, creativity, and humanistic values. Dade City, Florida. 

"Little Drops of Water" produced a slide/tape program of three Florida quilters and their reflections on creativity and their value systems. Dade City, Florida. 

"Values Inquiry" produced a multi‑media display inviting the public to assess their own stance concerning values. Saint Leo, Florida.

MUSICAL AWARDS 

Edward Lee Flemming, Jr. Award, "presented to an individual who is outstanding on a single instrument, or in the recognition of exception versatility on a number of instruments (and) . . . who  exemplifies the spirit of old time music," 1993. 

Tennessee Valley Old Time Banjo Championship: first place, 1983; second place, 1981. Athens, Alabama.

Florida State Banjo Championship: first place, 1975. Lawty, Florida. 

MUSICAL COMPOSITIONS

The Lake Echo Suite: a 90-minute ballet, featuring cello, harpsichord, violin, guitar, and five‑string banjo. Excerpts from the suite were performed by the Tampa Ballet at the celebration of their thirtieth anniversary. The Susan Taylor Dance Company, Tampa, has performed excerpts of the suite under the title "Cracker Ballet." 

Wasatch Improvisations were performed as part of a faculty concert by Lynne Wimmer, Professor of Dance, University of South Florida, 1985. 

Soundtracks for two FEH‑funded slide/tape programs, "Little Drops of Water" and "Simple Gifts: Pioneer Values," also for a slide/tape program, "Lady at the Window," presented at the 1980 Suncoast Women's Colloquium.

Wildcat Strike!, performed by the New Sand Mountain Wildcats. 1993.
