Freshman Seminar: The Freedom to Choose

The subject of this year's community inquiry is the American electoral process.  We will collectively examine the 2004 elections at the national, state, and local levels, using a variety of publicly available resources.  Students will be asked to research, observe, and participate in the public debate that surrounds the elections and to critique the outcome.  No one political orientation is endorsed; but all are subject to examination.  It is hoped that the course will contribute to building a cohort of active learners who share a significant academic experience.
