Francois Marie Arouet (Voltaire) was born on November 21, 1694 in Paris, France. His intelligence and wit made him one of France's greatest philosophers.

This house, the Chateau de Cirey is located in the Haute-Marne district about 250 km from Paris is where Voltaire lived for 15 years from 1734 to 1794.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is Voltaire's family home, Le Château de Voltaire à Ferney was constructed in 1776.
