The Sacrifice of Isaac
From heaven came the message from God, To bring death upon his beloved son. Defiance of God’s task fashioned his doom. Completion defied the morals of men.
He raised the knife towards God in heaven, Proving that only the creator knew what was best. With the strength of a man blinded by love, He placed the blade on his beloved’s neck.
Apparent though actions it is found certain, That devotion and love can mold one’s heart To proceed with a task unthinkable.
The statue stands sturdy in remembrance Of one man’s will against his desire, To comply with the task send down by God. -- Katie Heintz
Sacrifice of Isaac
Two men made one
in a single piece of stone
half horrified of the actions
the other no emotion shown
The biggest sacrifice man can make
is not of himself, but of his very essance
To sacrifice his own life would be an easy task
But his son is what the Lord asks
Death moves quickly to the eye of man
but in stone it is held back from it's reach
stretching forward to an unreachable goal
an instant trapped in time forever.
-- Alex Jesurun
The Sacrifice of Isaac Abraham gazes beseechingly towards Heaven, holding the sacrificial blade to his son's throat wishing for an angel's hand to free him from the unthinkable deed he's about to commit
As Isaac waits on his knees, afraid of what is to come-- not understanding-- he senses the knife's cold edge at his throat
Be swift oh angel, and save him! from his father's act of faith
surely God will stay loyal Abraham's hand, and spare young Isaac's life? I move on without knowing -- Uriana Ponson |
