It is very possible that people could have been open minded about Bacon. However, I still think that any of his essays are just plain crazy. To me, he just sounds like a know it all who was sitting around with his friends one day, and he decided that he should write down all of the "cool" things they talked about. For some reason I get a picture of Friends in my mind. Even though it sounds like he knew what he was talking about, I think that he was just really flying by the seat of his pants.
