First off, I think that Machiavelli could take Bacon in a fight. Bacon just seems like to much of a book worm to be able to take Maciavelli. That having been said, I think that Bacon had an easier time becasue he wasn't so blunt about what he was saying. I don't think that the church felt all that threatened by what Bacon had to say. I mean he had some positions that were in line with the church. Where as Machiavelli blamed the church for keeping Italy from being unified.
