Ok the title really has nothing to do with the subject, that was just false advertising to get people to read this. The Prince was published after Machiavelli's death because of the trouble it would have caused Machiavelli, and while Bacon's essays were not as harsh as Machiavelli, they were nonetheless partly inspired by him. Bacon quotes The Prince in his essays and gives some comments that people might strongly oppose. For instance in one of his essays he says that clergy are just a drain on money and that ruler's should avoid having them live in their lands. Why was Bacon free to publish these ideas and apparently not catch that much hell for it?
