As I am currently (and temporarily) studying education, if one were to empathize with the teacher, you can imagine that of all the students in a classroom, only a very few are actually interested in the learning, and the majority are there for... the grade, which may be even sadder than desiring knowledge for praise, it's desiring grades for praise, and often with as little learning as possibe (my reference is my prep school where i would have to call home crying that i didn't make high honors but all my cheating counerparts did)
