Personally, I do not think that we fear our government. If that truly was what Machiavelli believed then he would not agree with the system of the US government. I believe that our system and our political figures try and reach out to Americans, even if it is all a scam. I think that places that fear their government are Cuba and places in the Middle East. To me, fear of the government does not coincide with freedom.
