I really do not think that Da Vinci was the first modern scientist. He was definitely a scientist though, the first, I don't think so. According to the dictionary a scientist is somebody who has had a scientific training or who works in one of the sciences. Which he definitely was, however modern deals with present day things, and he dealt with more futuristic (ahead of is time) ideas. What do you think?
