Uriana's point is well made. However, I think there is a little more to say about the previously mentioned renaissance artists. Not only did their drives motivate them to create masterful works of art, but they also had the ever-important ability to presevere when times got lean. All of these artists had a hand-to-mouth existence, relying on their patron's generosity to get their next meal. Also, these artists were good, good to the point that they accumulated many enemies no matter how tactful they were to their peers. Sometimes they became a little too arrogant about their work, but they had the common sense to know how to improve upon their own work. I admire courage "under fire," I guess.
