I definitely do not think that Da Vinci was the first scientist. I do believe without a doubt that he was a scientist and a very influential one but to say he was the first is stretching it. He may be the first to have actually accomplished things, but is that really the definition of a scientist? Isn't it the ideas that count, not who can claim them first.
