I think Da Vinci was one of the world's first modern scientists, but I am not sure he was the first. He liked many different arts and sciences, and he even composed a journal in which he detailed an intricate analysis of the anatomy of the human body and plans for an airplane. I acknowledge he was ahead of his time. But scientists before him unknowingly (and some, knowingly) experimented with gravity, magnetism, and the science of navigation at sea. So I don't know if Leonardo was the world's first scientist. Any opinions?
