It seems to me that every Renaissance man has a passion that drives him to create, and eventually achieve success. Petrarch has his love for Laura, Cellini has his love for his statue Perseus, and Da Vinci has painting. They dedicate their hearts and souls to achieve perfection in every possible way. Petrarch’s obsession with Laura inspired him to compose great poetry, and Cellini’s fixation with Perseus drove him to insist on perfection. The masterpieces of the Renaissance were created by people who had a deep inner passion, and the source of that passion was different for everyone.
