I would say that Columbus had some of the traits of a Renaissance man because he was willing to take risks that others weren't willing to take. It is not that he was a great visionary, he was a man with fortitude. Just because he is credited with discovering America doesn't make him any more or less of a person. Even though his generation and the generation after took advantge of his discovery doesn't make him any less of a person. After all if Columbus didn't stumble onto America somebody else would have and the natives would have suffered the same fate. Therefore, I feal that all blame should be placed upon the nations of Europe as a whole and not just a select group of people.
