I think compared to our standards today it looks like women were weak (of course it wouldn't really be fair to do that, it's a whole different day and age). The story about the man that took his son to live on a mountain, then moved back and called women "goslings". Unfortuanetely, the authors purpose of the story was to show how nature would overcome the power of man-- what about the moral that it takes one stupid man to tell another something, and they'll believe it and degrade someone else at the same time?
