I am not sure if the rest of Achilleus' armor is special, but his shield certainly was unique. A god made the shield; I read that the shield was big and heavy-only Achilleus was able to lift it. But why does he wear his armor? I think that, the armor was more to him than just a protection. He won many battles while wearing this armor, so he may have associated his armor with success, sort of like having a 'lucky pencil' on a test. And, of course, the armor became his ‘trademark.’
